Night Train Murders DVD - Classic Thriller Movie for Home Entertainment & Movie Nights

If you like Euro horror or Giallo or sexploitation films from the '70s, "Night Train Murders" is a must. The basic plot is very similar to Ingmar Bergman's "The Virgin Spring" (1960), but updated to modern times.Pacing is good throughout, thanks to inter-cutting between the sexual action on the train and the Christmas party taking place at the home of one of the female victims. The post-coital third of the film is also good, right up to the fadeout. The film boasts a good script, good performances and some eroticism, though not as graphically depicted as one would expect. There is a notable lack of male nudity during the sex scenes, which is regrettable. (Ironically, the rape vignettes are actually less explicit than the scene with handsome Axel Düberg and Tor Isedal used by Bergman in his 1960 classic.) Still, the film gets its point across and remains strong.The image is amazing - taken from the original camera negative, there are many shots so clear it looks as if you could step right into them! This is the best the movie has ever looked - even in 1974, seeing this in the theater, the image would have been softer and grainier by comparison.Recommended!
