If you are interested in authentic New Orleans blues and jazz we highly recommend this recording. This collection was recorded on July 1st and 2nd, 1985, and May 23rd and 24th, 1989 shortly before his death at age 81. These recordings consist of the artist alone at the piano. There is a good example of a short set by him on YouTube. Pleasant Joseph known as Cousin Joe (1907 — 1989) was an American blues and jazz singer, born in Wallace, LA. He was later famous for his 1940s recordings with clarinetist Sidney Bechet and saxophonist Mezz Mezzrow. In the late 40's he was a regular performer at the once "Famous Door" on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, which has for a long time been a hole to be avoided. The pricing of the CD is somewhat high, but worth every penny. Highly recommended.
